not a jeep post

since this is a jeep blog, i blog about jeep.

but this is also a personal blog.  so if you’re going to read it, be prepared to read some non jeep stuff.

like this post.

i’m a bear grylls fan.  i don’t care if he “faked it.”  the guy is still awesome and i think he’s genuine through and through.

and his blog proves it.  especially this post.

normally i just do a shared item on stuff like this, but i thought this post was noteworthy.

sure, he plugs his show…  but it’s a blog on beargrylls.com

he’s upfront about his salary, he brags on his kids and wife, and tells the world that he’s a Christ-loving christian.

and i bet he loses some fans for that.

this guy has probably lost a few fans so far after all the allegations, so to put something as personal as your faith out there might seem like suicide.  but he did it anyway.

why?

because he’s bear grylls, man.   that’s how he rolls.

so call him a fake.  say that the show is set up.  i don’t care.

i don’t see you with your own show on discovery.

Why should Bear Grylls lose fans for talking about Christianity? FWIW I am Jewish, and a big BG fan, and I didn’t pay any attention to this “faith” remark until now.

John McCain annoys me, when he calls us a “Christian nation,” just to get a few votes, but Bear Grylls?

It would have bothered me if he said he was a Wiccan, but Christianity? If faith helps Grylls dive off cliffs into freezing water, etc., let him pray as much as wants!

i’m glad bear prays. but people are going to take hits no matter what relegion they say they are. it’s just a fact.

even “religious” people give people of other religions crap. like, for instance… jewish people saying they would have a problem with wiccans.

it is possible for bear to lose fans because of his upfrontedness of his faith.

but i’m glad he puts it out there and glad he practices what he preaches.

The thing that bugs me lately is that I’ve been hearing people say that Bear is fake. It gets annoying for several reasons: 1) It’s TV, so of course an element of it isn’t 100% real, which is a given, but I don’t think the right word for that should be “fake”. 2) The show was made to show people how to survive IF they happen to find themselves in a dangerous wilderness situation. DUH. Of course, not likely going to happen to most of us, but that information is helpful and not to mention, totally cool to watch. 3) And yes, of course he will be saved by helicopters, the crew, and whomever, if something seriously bad happens. I WOULD HOPE SO. 4) I guess if Bear dies, then he’ll finally be “real”, right people? Like Irwin? Is that how you want it to be? UGH. 5) He’s being compared to Survivor Man, which is a great show in itself, but honestly I don’t find it nearly as entertaining or interesting as Bear. Bear makes it exciting! Survivor Man is like watching Eeyore trudge through a swamp, imho.
And the Christianity thing..yah he’s probably losing viewers for that (if they give a crap), but hopefully they see a guy who’s purpose is to glorify God with his life. 🙂

bear grylls is definitely a fraud in the truest sense of the word. How do I know? I assisted the crew on several occasions and the main theme was how to “DUPE” the public brainless idiots like yourself, into believing this stuff. I left because they paid too little and I wasn’t devious enough to be part of the team. All his stunts were body doubled with trick choreography and he never slept outside on the show. We were eating steaks and drinking beer with the crew during the side moments of the show. We even used to rub dirt and mud on his face to make him look like he’d been through an ordeal. All his gimmicks are nonsense. I lived as a mountain man for 13 years in the Sierra Nevada’s back in the 80’s and never did anything the way he did it. Don’t believe this joker. He knows as much as my crippled grandmother knows about making tea. He really doesn’t know much of anything. He’s a dumb brit with a jewish pension for money and deception. He was an army private and couldn’t survive his way out of a whorehouse let alone a desert.
